How Often Do Corpse Flowers Bloom
Corpse flowers (Amorphophallus titanum), also known as titan arums, are known for their rare and unpredictable blooming cycle. These gigantic flowers can take several years, sometimes even up to a decade or more, to bloom. Once they’ve reached maturity and bloomed for the first time, subsequent blooms can occur more frequently, roughly every 2-3 years under optimal conditions, but this can vary widely.
The blooming event is notable not only for its rarity but also for the intense, foul odor the flower emits to attract pollinators like carrion beetles and flesh flies. The bloom itself usually lasts for only 24 to 36 hours before it begins to wilt.
